In the evenings the sofa and armchair offer the perfect spot to relax and put your feet up beside the warming wood burning stove whilst reading a book or watching television.

High ceilings make South Tweed bright and spacious whilst the windows offer stunning views over the adjoining fields. The glass sliding doors from the living area open up onto an enclosed garden and large patio which faces west towards the Eildon Hills. Evenings will slip away as guests soak up the views of sunflowers in the neighbouring field whilst listening to the sounds of nature and admiring the Eildon Hills and Rubers Law to the South.

The large bedroom contains a king-size bed that is perfectly placed to allow guests to wake up to an inspiring view of the iconic Eildon Hills laid out beyond the sliding doors that also offer access to the patio with its loungers and table. The well appointed en-suite bathroom with its underfloor heating, electric towel rail and ceramic floor tiles has a large walk in shower and separate bath for relaxing in at the end of a long day spent exploring the Estate.

The enclosed dog friendly garden provides the perfect space for dogs to stretch their legs whilst their owners relax with a drink on one of the loungers and watch the sun slowly set behind the Eildon Hills.

With walks leading straight off into the surrounding Estate and a path from each cottage that heads down to the wonderful river, Old Melrose Estate is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries and enjoy the delights of the Scottish Borders in both comfort and style. Guests are encouraged to explore the Estate’s riverside and woodland walks, picnic by the river, feed the Estate’s chickens, pigs and goats, wander round the Victorian walled garden or simply visit the tearooms.

What’s included: Bed linen and towels, electric central heating, wood-burning stove (plus logs), unlimited high speed WiFi, TV and DVD. A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at an additional charge.  No smoking.  South’s sister properties East &West Tweed can also be booked for larger parties wishing to holiday together whilst maintaining an element of privacy.
